2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: A New Era for an Increasingly Popular Model
Mitsubishi continues its innovative momentum with the announcement of changes to the 2026 Outlander PHEV. The company's plug-in hybrid model will benefit from a series of significant improvements for the next year, changes that are in line with those made to the regular model for the 2025 model year.
The Japanese brand has chosen the 2026 model year to put its flagship model back in the spotlight.
Aesthetically, the vehicle will feature a new, more assertive grille design, redesigned bumpers, and new 18- and 20-inch wheel options. The headlights, now darkened, add to the SUV's modern and sporty look.
On board, a series of changes also modernize the presentation, not to mention that it makes life easier and better for the occupants.
For example, the front seats are now heated AND ventilated, a welcome addition with the harsh winters ahead, but also for heat waves like the ones experienced this summer. The center console has been redesigned to offer more storage, while the cup holders have been redesigned to accommodate larger containers. This seemingly insignificant detail demonstrates how attentive Mitsubishi is to its vehicle owners, who have been asking for this kind of small improvement.
The cell phone charger has also been improved for greater efficiency. And let's not forget the Yamaha audio system that has been added to the vehicle; it greatly impressed with the Outlander, and now it will be available in the PHEV version.
Greater Range
The other major change, exclusive to this version, is the increased range achieved thanks to the adoption of a larger battery. The current range is 61 kilometers, which is excellent. We can therefore expect something even more interesting.
And, what's important to know about the Outlander PHEV is that the Charge mode, which can be used once the battery is depleted, is extremely efficient, allowing for electric kilometers that can be used as desired on longer trips.
Added to this are a recalibrated suspension and new tires, which promise even more comfort and more solid handling.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is expected in the first quarter of 2026. Be sure to come back for all the latest news about this model, as well as all the others in the Mitsubishi family.
